Casa Maya begins with the horizon. The house lies low and long against the land, a single dark volume of board-marked concrete stretched flat beneath a wide sky — no reaching upward, only spreading out. It doesn't crown the site; it settles into it.

The palette is deliberately shadowed. Charcoal concrete, dark timber ceilings, stone the color of wet earth — warmth kept low and close. A living green wall breaks the mass at the entrance, and a thin sheet of water spills across the threshold, so arrival is announced by sound before sight. Rough limestone and standing boulders ground the composition in something older than the house.

Inside, the darkness turns intimate. Full walls of glass dissolve into the garden; interiors glow with warm concealed light against deep stone floors. The bedroom opens to the pool through a single frame; the bath sits behind a low slot of glass, level with the earth and the stones outside.

Designed for Punta Cana, Casa Maya feels less like a house on the land than a shadow the land has cast — quiet, horizontal, entirely at rest.
